OUR VINEYARDS

FROM ZNOJMO THROUGH HORSETAILS TO LACTIC ACID BACTERIA

    • We cultivate 16 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Popice and Konice near Znojmo, on wine tracks Pod Lesem and Kraví hora.
    • All our vineyards are located in the Podyjí National Park and have an unmistakable character given by the specific Paleozoic subsoil (quartz, quartz sand, clay, granite, gneiss, flint). It is the only compact Paleozoic vineyard mountain in Moravia.
    • We do not use chemical spraying in our vineyard, we treat the vineyards on a biological basis and we use 100% organic fertilizers.
    • Why here? The varietal composition, soil and climatic conditions of this area best correspond to our ideas of s good grape for wine production.
    • The main varieties we grow here are Müller Thurgau, Riesling, Riesling, Veltlin Green, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir.
    • The vineyards are about 35 years old. We  planted Pinot Noir only in 2017.
    • The vineyards are growing on southeast slopes, 280 to 320 m above the sea level.
    • The fertility of vine bushes is strictly regulated below 60 q / ha (below 40 h / ha). All work with vines as well as grape harvest is done by hand (any green work).
    • For us, the ripeness of the grapes is determined not only by the sugar content, but by the actual (oenological) ripening of all grape components: i.e. sugar content, acid content, composition and ripeness of tannins and bouquet components (kernels, skins, etc.).
    • We grow grapes in harmony with nature, we treat them on a biological basis. We use preparations from natural products, such as nettles, horsetails, etc., which we prepare ourselves.
    • The vineyards are fertilized on the mineral basis and is 100% organic – horse and cow manure.
    • Yeast and lactic acid bacteria come from our vineyards.
